Everyone is on the “quiet luxury” train right now which stems from the trend we’ve been seeing towards building foundational wardrobes. This allows you to invest in timeless, quality pieces that are multi-functional and can be styled various ways. What I also love about these is that is allows you to add accessories like belts, chunky gold jewelry or a hat to instantly elevate the look and give it your own spin on classics. Here are the items we’re adding to our closets this summer to give them a well-rounded, seasonal capsule:
· THE LINEN WHITE BUTTON DOWN: Super versatile and can buttoned up and tucked, left open over a bathing suit and short as a cover up, tied up in the front or back over a dress or left unbuttoned at the bottom to show a little skin.
· YOUR LIGHTWEIGHT BLAZER: Moving away from heavy wool or thick material, you should look for a blazer in an airy fabric or linen and in lighter shades like cream/beige/gray. I love using a blazer over a dress or more casual outfit to instantly dress up the look on a chilly night vs. reaching for a denim jacket
· THE NEUTRAL SLIDE SANDAL: We style this with trousers, jeans, a casual dress or skirt. Just stay away from pairing it with anything too dressy but it’s perfect for a night out on Nantucket or more casual look.
· TROUSER PANT: I am calling this the new jean because I wear my pair from Reformation all the time. I pair with both sneakers, sandals and heels depending on what I am wearing on the top. And anything from a sweatshirt to a t-shirt to a dressy top will fly.
· YOUR NOT-SO-BASIC SHIRT: I am all about a good t-shirt. This season I look for neutral ones with interesting seeming, cutouts, one shoulder styles, ruching or other little details to create visual interest in an otherwise basic piece. Look for structured material that will flatter the body and opt for a bodysuit if you prefer that style.
