PACKING TIPS FOR A FASHIONABLE SUMMER

I often hear how packing and planning outfits can be a major source of stress before heading out on vacation.  The goal is to be efficient as possible with your pieces and choose ones that can do double duty – i.e. go from day to night or from sand to the street.  And while I love linen in the summer, it wrinkles very easily so I wouldn’t bring a whole suitcase full of it.  I recommend opting some more variety in cotton/polyester/spandex blends and lightweight knits.  Here are some of my packing “must-haves”, enjoy!

 

• Effortless dress – get a lightweight flowy one or a more form fitting tank dress that can be worn with white sneakers during the day and dressed up for later with jewelry, a heel and jacket if chilly at night.
• Elevated flat sandal – I am loving a good leather slide this season, whether its minimalistic or something with a little more edge make sure it’s comfortable for walking around.  Perfect with a trouser, white jean, sundress or skirt, pack one in a beige or black that will coordinate with anything. 
• Short set – I love a set that can be styled multiple ways on vacation.  Where the shorts with a cute white tank or the top with a flowy pant as separates when not being paired together.
• One-piece bathing suit – My rage with a classic one piece is that this can easily function as a bodysuit with your bottom half when leaving the boat or beach for a chic look. 
• Cover up – I also love a long button up or caftan style cover up that can be worn open but then belted with some chunky gold earrings and heels for night.  The sheer trend is still super hot, so I wouldn’t worry so much about it being a little see through as long as you have appropriate attire underneath 
• Hats/accessories/sunglasses – Accessories typically take up the least amount of space in your suitcase.  To that point, bring a packable hat that won’t get flattened and scarves/sunglasses and jewelry to instantly change the vibe of any fit.
• Don’t forget a layer – I am not always a fan of the denim jacket on vacation as it feels touristy to me.  Maybe look for an open knit cardigan or even a lightweight blazer.  But ultimately, the temps are going to dictate what layering piece for opt for.  My advice?  Just make sure it works with 50% of the outfits you pack.
