If you’re like me you love the change of seasons and keeping up on emerging trends. As a self-proclaimed fashion-obsessed stylist, it’s sooo hard for me to narrow down which ones are my “favorites”. I don’t believe in chasing every trend, but finding the ones that fit your particular lifestyle, body type and overall vibe. But since I was asked recently to comment on these particular five below, I wanted to share my POV on each and how to best style these looks to keep you on point this Fall.
1. SWEATER DRESSES
These are a timeless staple and a great transitional piece. Try a new take on it this season by incorporating some of fall’s trendy silhouettes, such as a form fitting maxi or a wrap style for waist definition. If you’re feeling edgy, show some skin with shoulder cutouts on a ribbed knit dress or a thigh high front slit. And the options of various materials for warmth are plentiful, from a jersey knit to chunky cable or cashmere.
2. PREP
I’m really into the prep trend and nostalgic 90’s feeling it’s bringing this season. Plaid, mini skirts, varsity bomber jackets and button down knits are all back in a big way as shown on the Tommy Hilfiger runway at NYFW. Head to toe preppy is too literal, however, so try pairing your varsity jacket with a slinky slip dress or your preppy knit with a baggy jean to give a little edge to your look.
3. PLATFORM BOOTS
Platform boots have been around for a few seasons now and happy that they are here to stay, not only for the look but the comfortability and practicality. Balance a chunky platform sole that feels heavier and masculine with a flowy dress or mini skirt for some femininity.
4. METALLICS
Metallics are a must not only for holiday/new years but now in everyday wear. You can incorporate this in footwear or a handbag without going all in, such as a metallic blue cowboy boot or a gold clutch, for example. When wearing clothing it often feels futuristic, like a silver blazer with exaggerated shoulders, which will make you instantly stand out when going out on the town.
5. MAXIS
I’m excited to see the maxi skirt return in 2022 with pleats, tulle, denim and more. For an on-trend look this winter, try rocking a ribbed knit maxi skirt with matching top as a set. And if you’re going larger on the bottom with full volume, be sure to pair with a more slimming top or bodysuit.
Happy Shopping!!
